Landon VS Thor

My Little Thor!..although he wouldn't wear the mask!
Saturday, April 16th we attended a Superhero Run/Walk/Roll event hosted by HSC Kids In Action. We often attend several of there events as its for kids with special needs. It gives my a possible change of interacting with other fellow special needs parent(s) and families, and Landon that same opportunity to play or interact with other special need kids....which if you know Landon will of course be on his time.

I had to represent My Brand - M.A.R.C.H.H.!
The event was held on Trinity University's field, besides you being able to walk, run or roll during the 5K they had other events to include: making superhero capes, face painting, dancing, mini golf and several of the superheros came out to hype the kiddies up.

I also invited My PEC, Sequins out to join us, she also brought of her students and a personal friend and her son as well.

Sequins & Landon sharing a moment!

So its not always often I can say I was all the way prepared ahead to time, but since I had known about the event for sometime I was able to order Landon's costume. Oddly enough I like to say I'm a Marvel fan but in all honesty I don't know of all the characters, especially the ones way before my time -- I'm a 80's babie (wink)! So in shame I'll admit I had no idea who Landon's costume represented, but Sequins did and so did everyone else. He was THOR...God of Thunder in the Marvel Universe.

He just loves His Mommy!

Thought I'd share this video of Landon running from me. I swear he loves to make me chase him! It reminds of Forest Gump, once he stared running, he never stopped. And lords knows sometimes I really don't feel like chasing him, but then I'm reminded each and every time, that's one of his major accomplishments, so at no particular reason he'll say bye. and he might just run.

M.A.R.C.H.H. Spotlight

Jennifer Tyler, Co-Founder & Ronnessa Brown, Founder
of High Heels High Goals
M.A.R.C.H.H. acronym
for
Making Awareness Reach Challenged Hearts & Homes
officially starts here!

On Sunday, March 13th I attended a networking event "Girls Night Out Uncut" hosted by High Heels High Goals. They were offering a grant giveaway for start up funds of $250 to 5 woman looking to change their lives and pursue a life of entrepreneurship, and you didn't have to be local. I saw the post like 2 days before the deadline and figured why not try. The letter had to state how your business empowered other woman.

I started drafting my letter and after completion I forwarded to a colleague to use her mastering proof-reading and editing skills. The next day, I prayed and anxiously submitted my letter to HHHG to be considered.

Moving along to the day of, which started out a tad bit lazed. I was feeling kind of busted with a sore back from taking my hair out Friday night and just feeling crappy for other personal reasons. Not to mention I had to rearrange my day due to another errand being thrown off schedule and then to top it off it started raining--bummer!

Finally I arrived at the event, it had already started. But I grab a seat and focused right into the session. They stared out with different topics and requests, the first one was to share a thought about your business, personal life or whatever you wanted to share. I wrote "what are some recommended prayers for your business", which Jennifer shared a few awesome bible scriptures for. After reading and discussing several other topics they went on to start with announcing the grant winners. **Drum Roll please**

As I turned to redirect my attention, sitting secretly with excitement all while trying to digest my nervous thoughts and energy, they announced the first name, she was a recipient from New York, then they announced the second one, another recipient from New York, by this time I'm thinking whelp I didn't win again....right after that I hear my name...LAVITA STATON!!!

Man oh man, if anyone knows me personally, then you know that I'm a weirdo at times, I like to be noticed (of course we all do), but I don't like to be put on the spot (I said I was weird). And bamm, there I was. Well lets just say, I inhaled and exhaled, thanked God and then I fierce-fully walked my shaky self up onto the stage to receive my grant and for the first time, I shared my vision for M.A.R.C.H.H. in front of a live audience. Unexpectedly I got emotional and had to take a few deep breaths, but once I got myself calm I was able to speak.

Today, as I write this blog I'm still in a shock, humbly excited and boasted all at the same time. I'm officially hyped and ready to get this thing up and running. I finally feel like I have the motivation I needed. If I must say, I have to give it to myself, although I'm still in a branding financial hold-up I've still stayed faithful to my vision. I have attended 3 networking events in the last two months and will be attending 1 tomorrow. I have no logo nor fancy business cards but the fact that I'm fueled with going means much to me. But with saying all that, I will be purchasing my logo with my grant.

In ending this post, I'm dedicating the two quotes below to all the Brave & Brilliant women who attended this networking event, the two Beautifully Spirited woman of HHHG who hosted the event and last, my very own Sweet Face PEC, Mrs. Gooding.

RARE 2016

And it starts here...

Happy World RARE Day!!

Well this year Team LRG didn't have any plans to celebrate RARE Day. With so much going on and it being on a Monday, I just let it be -- so blahh right, I did feel kind of sour about it.

However, Me and Landon still made it our business to acknowledge the day ourselves. We wore our matching denim shirts to work and school. As you all know it can be a struggle sometimes trying to get him to take a picture... so this was all I got {long deep sighhh}!!
This was a very candid capture...

Hello.... Sweet Sixteen

Hello! From the other side, of course.
And Happy Sweet Sixteen!!!....

Seems like I've missed the opportunity to share so much, I've fallen months behind {again}. I've exhausted such time on updates, accomplishments, frustrating moments and lots of funnies too. Its crazy how time continues to dart through life like a firing arrow even when you choose to stop and as you see I've gotten caught up in all of our moments.

Here's to a forwarding fresh start.
